Commercial Vehicle Operators use driver logs to properly monitor and record their duty status in accordance with federal and provincial Hours of Service Regulations. Drivers can choose from multiple types of log books depending on their distance travelled from their home terminal. Most common is the Driver’s Daily Log, also known as DDL, can come in many different formats in order to accommodate such features as multiple operating cycles or a pre- and post-trip vehicle inspection. A Short Haul Log, also known as a Radius Record, is a simplified duty status record and is for commercial operators who travel within 160 km from their home terminal and return to their home terminal for their minimum 8-hour off-duty time.
